ICML 2009: Continuing Education: Writing Evidence Summaries: Incremental Steps Towards a Research Base for the Profession

Session: Evidence summaries are 2-3 page critical appraisals of specific research articles, designed to be disseminated among the profession to promote evidence-based practice. In this workshop participants will use a critical appraisal checklist to evaluate a research article relevant to library and information services. They will then consolidate their findings into an evidence summary using a standard template. Participants will leave the workshop with enhanced critical appraisal skills which can be used in journal clubs and in consolidating the evidence base for their own professional practice.
