Session: Research output and citation counts are valuable sources of data being used to measure researcher impact. Impact has become part of the equation used to justify tenure and funding decisions. Citation analysis has for many years been the domain of ISI Web of Knowledge databases, but with changes in scholarly communication new databases and tools are now being used to generate and analyse this data. All have merits. This CPD activity will provide hands-on access and/or demonstrate a number of tools useful in the biomedical sciences. Strengths and weaknesses will be discussed.
