ICML 2009: Continuing Education: Future Trends and Needs in Clinical LibrarianshipPresenters: Trudi Maly, Clinical Librarian, Department of Health & Families, Northern Territory; Mr Terrence Harrison, Royal Melbourne Hospital, www.evidence-direct.net Biography: Trudi Maly is a clinical librarian at the Health Library of the NT Department of Health and Families. Her role sees her providing clinical information support to the clinical staff at the Royal Darwin Hospital. Trudi also provides support to library staff in other NT hospitals and currently mentors the health librarian at the Katherine Hospital. Trudi is also a key member of the Clinical Guidelines Project Implementation Team which is working toward providing evidence-based, standardised clinical guidelines across all 5 NT hospitals. Terrence Harrison commenced as Clinical Librarian, Royal Melbourne Hospital in January 2007. Conceived and designed Evidence Direct website, organise RMH Evidence Week, and contribute to several EBM courses. Previously: organised Knowledge Management system for National Institute for Clinical Studies (Australia); worked as a consultant ontologist for Sensis (Telstra) search engine; responsible for Peripatetic Librarian service (training in advanced searching, evidence searching, developing relevant learning modules, etc) for Plymouth Hospital NHS Trust; developed commercial internet/extranet sites; responsible for AEI database indexing for Australian Council for Education Research; worked on Serials retrieval, British Library. Also: Publicity Manager, British Post Office; lectured in Professional Writing; organised rock concerts (UB40, Chumbawamba, Planxty, etc); free-lance investigative researcher (The Observer, London); Night Manager, Amsterdam Hilton; author (novels). Session: Facilitated panel session or round table discussion exploring current and future developments internationally in clinical librarianship. Clinical Librarians and those who've implemented the role in different countries will be invited to present and discuss the issues.
