Important reasons for sponsoring the International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML):

1. Promotion to International Delegates

Around 1,000 health science librarians will gather in Brisbane, Australia for the 10th International Congress on Medical Librarianship (ICML), along with the 6th International Conference of Animal Health Information Specialists (ICAHIS) and the 4th International Clinical Librarian Conference (ICLC).  ICML is held every four years and is the only international forum dedicated to health and biomedical library issues.

ICML 2009 has been heavily promoted since 2005. Positive feedback, endorsement and enthusiasm have been attained over the past four years from the Medical Library Association (MLA), the Special Libraries Association (SLA) and the European Association for Health Information and Libraries (EAHIL). Marketing has been undertaken in North America, Europe, Asia, including China, and Brazil. Articles have been published on the Congress in a number of international journals. Based on these promotional activities and research we anticipate the attendance to be as follows: Australia 350, Europe 160, USA/Canada 200, South American 60, Asia Pacific including China 150 and the Middle East 50. This includes major institutions such as Mayo Clinic, Yale University, University of Oxford, University of Hong Kong, University of Oslo, Cochrane Collaboration and hundreds more.

The location of the Congress, Brisbane, Australia, presents an ideal opportunity to target the fastest growing region being the Asia Pacific, in particular those delegates from China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia.

2. ICML is a landmark event

The ICML 2009 will be a landmark occasion to celebrate the tenth anniversary and fifty-fifth year of the Congress and is being held for the first time in Australia. Since the inception of the Congress in 1953 in London, through to the ninth held in Brazil in 2005, the status and issues confronting of health libraries, especially those in developing countries, have been raised by the ICML throughout the world. ICML has launched major health library achievements throughout its history.

ICML achievements span from 1953 with the establishment of the National Library of Medicine and Medlars through to 2009, when the health librarian manages the virtual research and clinical library. ICML is the only forum where health librarians gather from around the world to address the disparity of information access that impacts upon healthcare.

3. Biomedical, pharmaceutical & government marketing opportunities

These attendees spend millions of dollars ensuring the provision of specialised health and research information through their libraries. They will come from a wide cross section of work environments including academic medical schools, hospitals, biomedical research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and government agencies and will include a large number of the decision makers in the profession.

We offer you this unique chance to be an integral part of this exciting opportunity to promote your products and new developments through a number of special sponsorship and exhibition activities.
