Gardens Point campus, Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
Gardens Point is one of three QUT campuses and is located in the city at the end of George Street with Parliament House on one side and the City Botanic Gardens on the other.
The campus serves 21,600 students from the faculties of Built Environment & Engineering; Business; Science & Technology and Law.
The Library, which is located in V Block, was built in 1973 but has under gone several renovations over the years. In the centre of the campus, the library provides dynamic and innovative access to
information resources and services which support the teaching and research needs of three of the four faculties. Law, historically, have a library in the Law Faculty building.
The Library, with the departments of Information Technology Services, Teaching and Learning Support Services, Integrated Help Services and QUT Printing Services, is part of an increasingly integrated Division of Technology, Information and Learning Support. As a result the High Performance Computing section and QUT Printing Services are also located in the Library building.
The library covers 7 floors. On this tour, points of interest will be the Information commons (‘V’ Lab) with an embedded 24 hour lab facility, an integrated desk: combining reference and circulation functions and a Researchers’ centre.
If you have time after the tour visit Old Government House http://www.ogh.qut.edu.au/ the recently restored original residence of the Governors of Queensland which is a 2 minute walk from the library.
